See all Model 80 D, Chasses number 304570
WatchmanII - Oct 09, 2007 - Model 80 D, Chasses number 304570Original history of this truck is posted in Diamond T Registry. The information above will get you to the original story. Many hours of work - now the fun. I have attended many car shows and antique truck and tractor shows. The 80 D is always very popular and I usually loose my voice in the afternoon, as so many people are interested in the truck and the history. I have kept the truck original as much as possible. The truck was purchased new in Butte Montana for use on a dairy farm. Now the truck is in Ferndale, WA. Hope to see you! Diamond vintage ads

My brother and I are the proud owners of a Diamond T pickup. It was purchased and driven off the showroom floor by our late father. The Diamond T was used by our grandfather's company to haul dynamite and nitroglycerine in the oil fields of California. After the company was sold, my father bought the truck, and we have had it ever since. A couple of years ago, we had it refirbished to as close to its original state as possible.Originally, the company purchased two Diamond Ts. I have been told that one was the deluxe and the other standard. One of the trucks was involved in an accident, and we still have some of the original parts. I would be happy to communicate with any other Diamond T pick up owners. Boyd's daughter y Myers , Age 53, Optometrist
Diamond T fire truck returns to Alcatraz Island
The Diamond T fire truck, purchased in 1934 by the Bureau of Prisons for the United States Penitentiary Alcatraz, has been returned to the island, fully restored (and operational) on September 23 2003.It was removed from the island in 1963, but was recently restored by inmates of a state prison in Nevada. We hope to add some information about it, including both historic and contemporary photos, to our website www.nps.gov/alcatraz in the near future (meaning by the end of the year). There is a gallery set up under Our picture galleries please check them out. 1947 Diamond T #306 Comes home
Short & Paulk Supply Company was started in 1941 by my grandfather JP Short III. We are still going strong today and have been supplying Hardware, Lumber, and Building Materials throughout South Georgia for over 62 years. During the 40's and 50's We aslo sold farm equipment and were a distributor of Diamond T Trucks. I have some Short & Paulk stationary with the Diamond T logo and our origional phone number 97 listed on it. This summer we bought back one of the origional model 306 1 1/2 ton flat beds trucks we sold in 1947. It was sold in 1947 to a local farmer to haul fertilizer on his farm. Prior to his death in the early 70's he sold it to his neighbor who used it on his farm and then restored it to near mint condition in the 90's. It was entered in several antique car & truck and won several trophy's. I had the truck lettered with our origional logo and phone 97 and will be happy to send you several pictures if you can send me an email address. It is just about all origional and has 31,000 miles on it. I plan to use the truck in local parades and advertizing. Jay Short Short & Paulk Supply Co. Inc. Glad to have finally found a site to get info on finding parts for my 'T'. I've had my 48 306H for 4-5 years and haven't done too much to it. I got it from my grandfathers family estate after he died. He bought the truck new and used it on his farm in Colorado. I trailered it home here in Prince George, B.C. I had it running the next day after it sat for close to 7 years. It is all there except for the eng crank bar. It disappeared in the farm clean up. I've already picked up valuable info from this site so thanks for being here! Quindel.Diamond T Pictures

Hi Paul,Very happy to hear, after perhaps forty-five years, about the good old Diamond T. I always wondered what was the meaning of the “T”. We drove that truck from 1948 until 1955, when a Chevy 4400 with the famous panorama-windshield replaced him. Diamonds of the load-capacity we need were no longer available at that time. How Mr. Alan Garber got hooked.
In my younger days, I restored a 1952 International L110 and a 1944 Dodge pickup. I then sold the trucks and went to university. I gave no further thought to restoring old pickups until two years ago. I was driving through Lacombe and saw an old pickup in a front yard with a "For Sale" sign on it. I liked the looks of the truck and did an immediate U-turn to investigate. It turns out the truck was a 1938 Model 80 Diamond T. It was owned by Louis Weidner who owns the GM dealership in Lacombe. He had the truck since the early 1960s and had planned on restoring the truck but never got around to it. The truck had been used in the coal mines near Drumheller and after that it had been owned by a farmer.my two diamond t trucks
I have two diamond t trucks. That were bought new by my grandfather. My father and uncle used them in their fruit business for 30 years. Since then I kept the trucks and semi restored them. One is a 1938 model 301with a qxc3 engine and the other one is a 1937 model 212 with an hercules engine. Both trucks are single wheels. I assume that they are 1 to 1 1/2 ton . I am always looking for miscallaneous parts. I have an article that was printed in our town newspaper about my 1937 truck I will would like to mail you a copy if interested. |
